In class we watched the movie “Do the Right Thing”, this movie is very powerful and takes on the problem of racism and discrimination in America. In the movie it shows the different interactions of different races in Brooklyn. It shows the challenges of racism between White and African American, African American and Italian, and African American and Korean. When reading the script of “Do the Right Thing” I couldn’t quite put some of the scenes into pictures in my mind. In the movie it shows the differnent scenes and it adds a whole new angle to the scenes and depth of the movie.

In the end scene of this movie it shows a very powerful scene. In the scene it shows Radio Raheem with his Boom Box, playing music loudly in Sal’s Famous Pizzeria. Sal asked him to turn it down and Radio Raheem turned it up louder. Sal then grabbed a Baseball bat and smashed the Boom box. Then Radio Raheem procedes to choke Sal. The cops eventually come, and they procede to beat Radio Raheem to death. This scene is the most powerful scene in this movie. The reason why this scene is so powerful is because it shows police brutality to the other races.

Homework 1/29/118

In the script of "Do the Right Thing", I believe that it does provide a point about doing the "right" thing. In the script you see a character called Da Mayor, in the beginning of the script you see him sweep the sidewalk for a dollar, just to get a beer. Then later on in the story you see Da Mayor save a child from getting hit by a car. Then after that he tried to defuse a situation between Radio Raheem and Sal, in which if the situation was defused, maybe Radio Raheem wouldn't have had died. I believe that the "right" thing according to this script would have been what Da Mayor would have wanted. A defused situation where no one would have had gotten hurt.
